A special senior night
The senior class is one of the more interesting ones in recent years. First of all, it takes a second to figure out which ones are seniors, and exactly how many there are.
Then you settle on the number eight. Eight? Eight seniors were recognized on a team that considered itself 7-men strong.
There are three traditional, straightforward seniors – Marcus Denmon, Kim English and Steve Moore. They were recruited in high school, offered scholarships, and signed National Letters of Intent with digital cameras ready and smiling family members present. Matt Pressey and Ricardo Ratliffe, also fit a common mold as junior college transfers.
Then the walkons: Jarrett Sutton, who didn’t make the team his freshman year and is attending grad school to play a fourth; Andy Rosburg who was a recruited walk-on as a senior in college because he balled it up at the rec center; and Andrew Jones, the tight end from the football team that legit came out of nowhere.
Their post-game senior night speeches at Mizzou Arena on Wednesday were no Michael Irvin Hall of Fame induction or Jim Valvano at the ESPYs, but they each had a moment of their own. Continue reading
