The Tigers’ road basketball victory tonight against the Texas Longhorns marks the second time that Missouri has beaten Texas in both men’s basketball and football in the same year.
The last time this happened was during the 1997-1998 season, when the Tigers beat the Longhorns in football 37-29 on Oct. 18, 1997, before notching a 91-69 home win in basketball on January 5, 1998.
This season, Missouri’s football team took down Texas 17-5 on Nov. 12, 2011, and Michael Dixon’s last-minute layup put the Tigers ahead one point in tonight’s 67-66 victory.
The Tigers are now 20-2 this season and play next against Kansas on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 8:00 p.m.
